Top Performers
Among the constituents of the FTSE 100, Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (HL) stood out with the largest increase in share price, climbing by 4.92%.
Other notable performers include:
- 3i Group PLC (III): Shares rose by 1.86%.
- Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LLOY): Shares increased by 1.77%.
- Persimmon PLC (PSN): The residential building construction company saw a 1.65% increase in stock value.
- WPP PLC (WPP): Advertising/marketing/public relations business also witnessed a 1.65% rise in shares.
Biggest Decliners
On the other hand, Kingfisher PLC (KGF), a home goods retail company, experienced the largest decline among FTSE 100 constituents, with shares plunging by 12.22%.
Other notable decliners include:
- Burberry Group PLC (BRBY): The clothing firm's shares declined by 4.04%.
- Antofagasta PLC (ANTO): Non-ferrous metals company saw a decrease of 2.68% in stock value.
- Entain PLC (ENT): Gambling industries company experienced a decline of 2.38% in shares.
- Halma PLC (HLMA): Precision products firm recorded a 2.18% decrease in stock value.
Currency and Commodity Markets
The pound showed a marginal increase of 0.02% against the dollar, reaching $1.2388. It also saw a slight appreciation of 0.12% against the euro, reaching €1.1597.
Meanwhile, Brent crude oil prices rose by 0.9%, reaching $95.26.
The yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 4.970 basis points to 4.342%.
