London, UK — Aurrigo International, a transport technology company, announced a new partnership with International Consolidated Airlines Group to deploy self-driving baggage and air-freight vehicles in the U.K. This exciting development has caused Aurrigo's shares to rise significantly, up by 14% at 167.50 pence as of 0730 GMT.
Under a trial program, the initial project and deployment of autonomous vehicles will be valued at £250,000 ($302,150). The evaluation and simulation phase is set to commence in October and run for four months. It will be followed by a demonstration phase and the initial deployment of a small fleet, expected to take place during the first half of 2025. This fleet will include a baggage vehicle, air-freight vehicle, and Aurrigo's Auto-Sim aviation operations simulation software.
Chief Executive David Keene expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "This collaboration with one of the world's largest airline groups is a fantastic endorsement of our technology's capabilities. It showcases the potential of automation to enhance efficiency and overcome the challenges faced by modern aviation."
